Overview

Why chain link fencing is so widely used

Chain link combines a strong, flexible woven wire mesh with simple posts and rails. It is quick to put up, easy to maintain and cost-effective over long distances, which makes it the go-to choice for large perimeters.

The mesh is made from low carbon steel wire, galvanised wire or stainless steel wire. You choose the surface treatment that suits your site and budget: hot-dip galvanised, electro-galvanised, or PVC coated in green, black or white. Our team supplies the mesh and installs the posts, rails and fixings.

Questions

Chain Link Fence: frequently asked questions

What is chain link fence made of?

Chain link is made from woven steel wire. Depending on your needs we can supply low carbon steel, galvanised or stainless steel wire mesh.

What is the difference between galvanised and PVC-coated chain link?

Galvanised wire has a zinc coating that resists rust. PVC-coated chain link adds a coloured plastic layer on top of that, in green, black or white, for extra weather resistance and a neater look.

Is chain link fencing secure?

It is an effective boundary and deterrent, particularly for large areas, and it can be fitted with extra security such as razor wire or an electric fence on top. For the highest security, palisade fencing or clear-view mesh is stronger.

Can chain link be used for sports courts and farms?

Yes. It is widely used for tennis courts, sports fields, animal enclosures and farmland because it is strong, flexible and economical.

How long does a chain link fence last?

With galvanised or PVC-coated wire and good installation, a chain link fence gives many years of service with little maintenance.
